TACD’s work in the area of product safety and chemicals aims to ensure that consumer products, including those resulting from emerging technologies (i.e. nanotechnology, synthetic biology, etc) are safe and beneficial to citizens and do not lead to new hazards in consumer products and the environment. Work will particularly focus on addressing research gaps, regulatory frameworks, and labelling in these areas, as well as providing recommendations to relevant EU and US authorities on how better consumer protection can be achieved.
