TACD welcomes President Juncker’s push for a comprehensive data protection agreement

The Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD) has written to the President-elect of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, sending well wishes for his upcoming term and expressing support for proposals regarding a comprehensive data protection agreement that recognises the need to safeguard personal information in the global economy.

TACD is particularly pleased about the President-elect’s ambitions for a “comprehensive EU-U.S. data protection agreement which provides justiciable rights for all EU citizens, regardless of where they reside, as well as reviewing the Safe Harbour arrangement.”

To support privacy protection on both sides of the Atlantic, TACD has called on the U.S. and EU with specific proposals to strengthen data protection for the public over the last couple of years.
