TACD calls on US and EU trade chiefs to publish negotiating texts

Ahead of the 8th round of negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), the Co-Chairs of the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD) wrote to the US and EU negotiators. They urged Michael Froman, the US Trade Representative, and Cecilia Malmström, the EU Trade Commissioner, to increase transparency in the trade talks.

Pointing to the recent decision by the European Commission to publish EU proposals for legal text for TTIP, the Co-Chairs called upon the US to follow suit immediately. However, publication of initial proposals is not sufficient. TACD thus recommends the two sides commit to publish consolidated negotiating texts on an ongoing basis.
